Posted by Living Sounds

When you call Living Sounds Hearing Centre for your initial hearing evaluation, chances are you will be asked if anyone will be attending the appointment with you. It’s not necessarily that we are nosy, but we are actually interested in knowing if you will be bringing a loved one, or at the very least, to let you know that it might be a good idea.

Have you ever been to a meeting or appointment with your spouse and in talking about it later, realize that you both picked up very different pieces of information? I know I have! We both seemed to remember certain things and found we may have missed others.

This can be the case at a hearing evaluation, especially if you struggle with hearing loss. When your loved one comes along, they bring another set of eyes and ears. And, more often than not, they have your best interest at heart.

Your clinician will be asking about your hearing and ear health, including hearing difficulties, infections, diseases, surgeries, and ear/head trauma. Your spouse or loved one may be able to assist you in recalling these events. You will also be asked about whether you are experiencing any hearing difficulty, and often a family member will notice that certain environments that have been more difficult for you.

After the hearing evaluation, the results will be explained and recommendations will be given, if required. Whether there is a need for a further testing due to a medical concern or a recommendation for hearing aids, having your loved one present can help alleviate any stress you may be experiencing. Your clinician will be able to provide you with plenty of information regarding any options you have, and will be happy to answer any questions that you or your loved one may have.

We want you to be comfortable and confident in your decision to come to Living Sounds Hearing Centre, and we want your family members to feel the same.
